What is an Ombudsman?
An ombudsman is someone who helps settle complaints after all other customer service options have been exhausted. The ombudsman investigates reported complaints, researches inquiries, and communicates findings. This person works to settle disputes fairly according to the ombudsman values of neutrality, independence and confidentiality. Although the ECMC Ombudsman is there to help, you should contact this person only as a last resort.
How can an Ombudsman help me?
If you’ve made every reasonable effort to resolve your problem through the normal course of business and you still can’t find a solution, the ECMC Ombudsman may be able to assist you. The ECMC Ombudsman can provide direction and guidance to help you secure the information you need to resolve your concerns, such as forms to complete or documents to provide as proof of your situation. Contact the ECMC Ombudsman only if you’ve tried every other customer service option and your issue is still not resolved.
What can’t the ECMC Ombudsman help me with?
The ECMC Ombudsman cannot help you with problems that do not involve ECMC. Because the role of the ombudsman is to be impartial and objective, the ombudsman also will not give you legal advice, represent you in a formal grievance, or advocate for any side in a conflict.
