In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, President Trump's March 13 National Emergency Declaration, and recent directives from the U.S. Department of Education, ECMC is taking the following actions.
- ECMC will cease all collections activities on defaulted student loans until September 30, 2020. The only exception is if borrowers are already pursuing or want to pursue a voluntary resolution to their debt—in which case they may be assisted with that resolution.
- ECMC will not initiate new administrative wage garnishments (AWG) and will suspend current AWG orders. If ECMC receives garnishment payments from employers, they will be returned to the employer unprocessed.
- ECMC will inactivate all borrowers from the Treasury Offset Program and, upon request, will refund to borrowers all Treasury offset payments that we have received since March 5, 2020. To request a refund, please contact email@example.com or 888-221-3262.
- For borrowers in a rehabilitation agreement or other repayment agreement, any payments that borrowers miss from March 5, 2020, through September 30, 2020, will not prevent a borrower's completion of these agreements. Those payment arrangements may resume after September 30, 2020.
We are ready and eager to assist our borrowers through this difficult time. You can contact us at 888-221-3262 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
